The following eminent academicians were recognised for their contributions in the development of management education in India.
They were conferred the VB Padode Honour Award which was instituted in the memory of IFIM’ founder V.B. Padode.
Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe serves as the Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education or AICTE. Dr. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, in his illustrious career of 31 years has held several important Academic, Research and Administrative positions.
He started his career as a Scientific Officer, at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1983 and moved to Tata Consulting Engineers in the same year. He served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Itanagar from 1987-1988 & again from 1989-1995, before joining IIT Guwahati as an Associate Professor in 1995, Dr. Sahasrabudhe has also served as the Director of the College of Engineering, Pune since 2006 on deputation from IIT, Guwahati. This was prior to him joining as the AICTE Chairman.
He was awarded with the "Maha-Intrapreneur Award-2011" of Praj Industries, Pune for his Leadership and Innovative abilities in the area of Technology Development & Entrepreneurship Initiatives.
Mr. Mike Shah has been in the IT industry for 45 years, and is the founder MD of Digital India. Mr. Shah has been an active angel investor and has helped create and fund a number of ventures in Magic India, RELQ, SW, Imorph, ICR technologies, Codetheatre, Agile Labs and Myntra. Mr. Shah was a general partner in Infinity Ventures and an investment advisor to Karnataka’s IT venture fund, Kitven and its semiconductor venture fund. Mike is now chairman of Nightingale Empowerment Foundation, an NGO working for the well-being of senior citizens in Bangalore.
Dr. Sastry is a notable Visionary, a Leader, an Entrepreneur, a Technologist and a Philanthropist. Dr Sastry is a co-founder of RelQ and is also a director at MUSA Software Engineering. Dr Sastry is also on the Board of National Stock Exchange and is on their System Advisory Committee.
Dr Sastry was on the board of Infosys Technologies Ltd as the Director responsible for Quality and productivity. The company was awarded an immediate certificate for ISO 9001 in 1993 under his guidance. He has published over 20 technical and management related papers.
Dr KRS Murthy is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of ISEC or Institute for Social and Economic Change. Dr Murthy is often credited with initiating the turnaround of IIM Bangalore as the Director of the institute. Dr. Murthy also taught the Post Graduate, Executive Development, Doctoral and Faculty Development Programmes at IIM Ahmedabad, besides heading academic administrative positions such as Editor of Vikalpa. He was also the first Director of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA).
Dr. Chandra is the Director of Centre for Financial Management, Bangalore. He has over three decades of teaching experience in postgraduate and executive education programmes. He was a Professor of Finance at IIM Bangalore and many other Institutions. He was appointed as a member of several committees including the Capital Issues Advisory Committee, the High Powered Committee on Insurance Sector Reforms, and the SEBI Committee on Derivatives. He has served on the boards of a number of organizations and has received several honours including the Best Teacher Award from the Association of Indian Management Schools.
Dr Rao is an institutional builder with deep experience in building higher education institutions. He is an Educator, Administrator and Teacher. He is currently with ICFAI as Group Advisor. Dr. Rao was the Director of Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Hyderabad from 2011 to 2015. He was the founding Director of ICFAI Business School (IBS) from 1995 to 2010 and has grown it from scratch to a yearly intake of around 3000 students per annum in its MBA Program. Dr. Rao was the Dean and Professor of Finance at BITS, Pilani where he was involved in implementing the highly successful industry – academic interface program (Practice School) Dr. Rao was conferred the Ravi J. Matthai National Fellowship Award for his contributions towards ‘Excellence in Management Education.’
Prof. J. Philip is the Principal Founder and builder of the Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship. He became the Dean of XLRI in 1970 and co-founded the prestigious PGDM Programme. After a very productive stint in industry, he returned to academics as Director of IIM Bangalore (1985-91). Among the various honours he has received, he has been given ‘Life-time Achievement Award for Excellence in the Profession and Societal Contribution’ instituted by the Alumni Association of XLRI, Jamshedpur. He also received the Dr KCG Verghese Excellence Award’ for his outstanding academic achievements, as a part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations organized by the Hindustan Group of Institutions.
Prof. S. Sadagopan is presently the Director of IIIT, Bengaluru. His interests include Operations Research, Multi-criteria optimization, Simulation and Enterprise computing. He has won numerous awards that include Fulbright Fellowship (1995), "Champion of Humanity" Award of Hindustan Chamber of Commerce (2009), "Rotary Honor of Vocational Excellence" by Rotary Northwest Bangalore District 3190 (2013), Engineering Watch "Campus Preparedness" Award (2015), and Cisco NDTV "Digital Pioneer" Award (2016). He is a featured Columnist for Times of India (the world's largest English Newspaper) and several magazines.
Dr. Rajan Saxena is presently the Vice Chancellor of SVKM’s NMIMS University, Mumbai. He has held leadership positions at different premier institutes like S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon, IIM-Indore, NMIMS Mumbai and XLRI Jamshedpur. He has been awarded with a Distinguished Educationist Award at the BERG Awards for Innovation & Excellence in Education, Thought Leader Awards in Education and a Visionary Leadership Award in Education by ET Now.
Dr. A. Parasuraman is a holder of the James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing and is the Director of PhD Programs at the School of Business at the University of Miami. He is presently the Pro-Chancellor of Academics at Vijaybhoomi University, Greater Mumbai. Dr. Parasuraman has received the Academy of Marketing Science’s “Outstanding Marketing Educator Award” in 2001 and was designated as a “Distinguished Fellow” of the Academy in 2004. He is the recipient of the 2012 Paul D. Converse Award for significant scholarly contributions to marketing and the 2013 Gil Churchill Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing Research.
Dr. Bhimaraya Metri is the Director at Indian Institute of Management, Trichy. He specializes in the fields of quality, project management and Supply Chain Management. Dr. Metri was on the Board of Directors of DSI and is the first Indian elected as the Vice President, Asia Pacific Division at the Decision Sciences Institute, Houston. Dr. Metri has been awarded with the esteemed “Prerana Puraskar” Award by the Government College of Engineering, Karad for his exemplary service in February 2018.
Professor Natarajan has served as The Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and as the Chairman of The All India Council for Technical Education. He is currently the Chairman of the Board for IT Education Standards of Karnataka and has been conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees by six Universities. He has been a Member of the Editorial Boards of Fuel London, ASEE Journal of Engineering Education and several other Journals.
Dr S. Neelamegham is currently a distinguished Professor of Marketing and the President of the NIILM Centre for Management Studies. He is the Co-Founder of the Academy of Indian Marketing. He has been the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies of the University of Delhi. He has vast and varied experience in teaching, research and consultancy in several countries across Europe, USA and Australia.
Dr Neelamegham has served as a Consultant to UNDP, ADB, Economic Commission (Africa), Asian Productivity Organisation, Commonwealth Secretariat, Asian Center for Development Administration and on the boards of several private and public sector organizations.
Dr. Sudarsanam Padam is a political scientist and had been on the faculty of the Administrative Staff College of India Hyderabad. At ASCI, apart from being a professor, Dr Padam has held various positions like honorary advisor, dean of studies and was also the director of the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), Pune . Dr Padam was awarded a post-doctoral Fulbright Scholarship in 1983 and was a Hubert Humphrey Fellow and SPURS Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As one of the founders of the Association of Management Development Institutes in South Asia (AMDISA), Dr Padam is associated with the South Asian Quality System (SAQS).
Mr Kamal Singh is the Executive Director, Global Compact Network India, a local network of United Nations Global Compact ( UNGC) , New York. An alumnus of JNU, prior to joining GCNI, he was the Director General at National HRD Network. He is known for his significant contribution in rejuvenating financial health of NHRDN and also introducing several new initiatives. Prior to the this, he was Director, AIMA- A National Apex body of Management Profession in the country. He is on the Board/Sub-Committees of several organizations/institutions including Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Foundation For Organisational Research ( FORE), JIMS, Indian Institute of Finance (IIF) and many more.
Mr. Amit Agnihotri is the Founder of MBAUniverse.com. Mr. Vikram Chaudhary serves as the Assistant Editor in Financial Express. He is skilled in handling features pages, opinion pages, storytelling, news reporting, copy editing, and photography. As an Assistant Editor, he handles three weekly pages - two auto pages and one education page. He is a part of the Opinion team at The Financial Express and was also a part of the Features team.
Mr. Vinay Umarji is the Chief of Bureau at Business Standard having covered higher education for over a decade among other sectors like business and finance. He has been a journalist for 13 years, spanned mainly over Business Standard with a brief stint in mainstream reporting at The Indian Express prior to this.
Prof. Jagdish Sheth is the Chair of Marketing in the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He specializes in Consumer Psychology and Marketing. Professor Sheth was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2020 for his work in literature &education in the United States. In 2017, he was named a fellow of the Association for Consumer Research. The "Sheth Family Foundation" has established Sheth International Awards at the University of Pittsburgh's University Center for International Studies.
Dr Singh sits currently on the Board of several reputed private and public sector organizations helping them initiate the change process and charter a winning corporate strategy. As a consultant, Dr. Pritam Singh has worked with over 200 CEOs in India and abroad, and conducted more than 100 retreats for the top management of both private and public sector organizations as well as Multinational Corporations. He was the Director of institutions like MDI and IIM Lucknow and has made notable contributions to Administrative Staff College of India and IIM Bangalore. His distinguished services were acknowledged by the country when he was conferred with the prestigious ‘Padma Shri’ by the President of India.
Dr H Chaturvedi is Professor and Director at Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. He has been the Director at AICTE and Dr Chaturvedi is a Member of the Board of Governors for the Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management Gwalior is a Special Invitee Member of the Board of Governor, United Nations Global Compact Network India, New Delhi. He is also a Member of the Advisory Board of the Asia Pacific Centre for CSR Sustainability.
Dr Chaturvedi has authored and edited five books relating to various challenges before Indian Business and economy and his latest book is titled “Quality, Accreditation, and Ranking - A Silent Revolution is in the Offing in Indian Higher Education, Bloomsbury, 2019”.
Mr. Dhananjay is the Director General, National HRD Network. From 2011- 2018, he was the Executive Director at NHRDN where he was responsible for Strategic Planning, Change Management, Board Collaboration, Regulatory Compliance, Leadership Development, Stakeholder Engagement and New Initiatives of National HRD Network. He has also been associated with All India Management Association (AIMA) at various levels.
Prof.(Dr.) Sudhir Krishnaswamy is the Vice-Chancellor of National Law School of India University Bangalore. After graduating from NLSIU, Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy did his BCL and PhD both from the University of Oxford. His Areas of Interest are Constitutional and Administrative Law, Property Law and Legal System Reform. He has published various books and articles and regularly contributes in international and national newspapers such as the New York Times, Economic and Political Weekly, The Hindu.
Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh is the founder Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi established by the Delhi Government in 2008. His administrative and leadership abilities is recognized not only in India but also at the international level.
With over two decades of experience in heading the law school he carries the aura of a visionary who as an outstanding statesmen and academician shown immense commitment and contribution towards changing the legal education landscape of the country. Prior to his stint in NLU, Delhi, he was the founder Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, University of Law, established by the Andhra Pradesh Government and had been at its helm since its inception in 1998. Prof. Singh’s acumen took NALSAR to great heights as a well-known premier institution for legal education and research in the country.
Prof. Singh’s contribution in redesigning legal education in the country has been significant being a member of the Legal Education Committee of the Bar Council of India. His legal writings span the areas of Jurisprudence, Human Rights, Legal Education, Legal Aid, Personal Laws and Justice Education and has more than 50 research publications to his credit.
He has been Member of; a) All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi; b) Governing Body of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; c) National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad; d) Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla.
He is a Member of the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs. He is a Member of the Advisory Board and Executive Council of Maharashtra National Law University. He was also a Member of Sectoral Innovation Council on IPR, constituted by DIPP, Min. of Commerce, GOI. He was a Member of National Committee to administer the “Rajiv Gandhi Advocate’s Training Scheme” constituted by Ministry of Law and Justice, Govt. of India.

Prof. (Dr.) P. Ishwara Bhat is the Vice Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University. He has 40 years of teaching experience. He served as Professor and Dean of Faculty of Law, University of Mysore, Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore and as Vice-Chancellor of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata from 2011 to 2018. He served as member of Syndicate and Academic Council of several universities.
He was a Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Fellow and involved in co-teaching NPO law in Columbus Law School, Catholic University of America in 2010; Shastri Visiting Lecturer in 2009 at Queen’s University, Kingston Canada to teach comparative legal tradition; Salzburg Fellow in 1997 for undergoing a seminar course on American Civilization; Shastri Research Faculty Awardee in 1992 for researching at York, Toronto and Ottawa Universities on language rights.
He has presented papers in international conferences on third sector law at Toronto, Seoul, Jakarta, Beijing and Bangkok. He also presented a paper on mother tongue education at Kathmandu and on Indian Constitutional development at Islamabad. He participated and presented papers in more than 100 national and international seminars. He has authored books on ‘Non Profit Voluntary Organisations Law’, ‘Law and Social Transformation’, ‘Fundamental Rights’ and Administrative Liability and published 115 research articles in national and international journals and books.
He is a Professor of History in Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has two decades of experience in the field of academics. His areas of expertise and academic writing evolves around the great history of the Marathas. He has won various prestigious award for his contribution and is a visiting scholar in Charles Wallace India Trust London.
He is a Professor of law in NLU Delhi currently working as Chair-person of Delhi Judicial Academy. Prof. Satish is a 2001 NLSIU Bangalore graduate (decorated with the Madhu Bhasin Noble Student Award for excellence in academics), with LLM and doctoral degrees from Yale Law School (the former under an Inlaks scholarship). Between 2007 and 2009, he had joined the National Judicial Academy (NJA) Bhopal as an assistant professor, under then-chairperson Prof Mohan Gopal, and had previously also taught at NLSIU, under a Mahatma Gandhi National Law Teaching Fellowship
Prof. R.S. Nirjar has been associated with technical education for more than three decades. An eminent educationist, he has been associated with leading institutions which include Birla Institute of Technology; IIT, Kharagpur; Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow; NIT Allahabad. He was also Member Secretary in AICTE, New Delhi and later was Chairman. Dr. Venugopal K. R. has been associated with Bangalore University for the last four decades. Dr. Venugopal has also served as the Principal, University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE). Dr. Venugopal is a recipient of over several awards, and has been conferred the prestigious IEEE Fellow Award for contributions to Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Education and ACM Distinguished Educator Award for contributions to Computer Science and Engineering Education. both from USA. He has a distinguished, brilliant and an illustrious academic career with over 37 Years of Teaching, Research and Administrative experience.
Dr. N. Jayasankaran is Professor Emeritus and advisor at NMIMS university. He was also the former vice chancellor at Kanchi University where he started the Department of Education Technology. He was part of the Indian delegation in the Promotion of Higher Education Abroad, piloted by UGC, HRD Ministry. He has been rated as one of the top Five professors in Management by Business Standard and has over 45 years of research and teaching experience.
He is currently Chancellor, Central University. He was the Vice-chancellor of the prestigious Bangalore University. Dr. Shetty was appointed as Member Secretary and Chief Executive of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) at Delhi, which is the premiere Art Institute of Asia for the study of Arts.
He is Chairperson of the Board of Governors of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. He was the Former Vice Chancellor of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). He has served as the Director of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru. The notable awards and fellowships received by Prof. Reddy are Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Aryabhatta Award, Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award and Sir M Visvesvaraya Technical Award.
He is the Chairman, National Institute for Open Schooling, NOIDA, India. He has been the Director of the Distance Education Programme of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (DEP-SSA) an MHRD-IGNOU project. He has been on various statutory bodies of various open distance learning (ODL) as well as traditional institutions.
Mr. Dilip Thakore is the Editor, Education World. He is an eminent Journalist who is the Founder Editor of Business World and Business India Group
She is the CEO, ELCIA (Electronics City Industries Association) and was also the Vice President at Infosys and has been an integral part of the Indian IT industry for a long time.
Mr. Satya Narayanan is the Founder and Chairman of Career Launcher. He is on the MHRD Steering Committee 2019 on National EduTech Policy and is a Govt appointee on E&ICT Academy (A IIT Kanpur - Meity Project for cloud university).
Mr. Satya is a published poet in Urdu and also serves on the board of Rekhta, the largest / non-profit organisation committed to promotion of Urdu. (www.rekhta.org).
