Soumya Choudhury is an Industry Practitioner who brings strong and diverse domestic corporate experience across functional domains relevant for management education. He has a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad and a B.Tech. from IIT Bombay. He has an experience of over 24 years in Indian Industry and more recently running a startup in the same domain (viz. Supply Chain Planning & Optimisation), including 7 years in Investment Banking (Merrill Lynch, Dresdner Kleinwort, KPMG CF), 5 years in Automotive (P&L Management for Supply Chain) and the last decade in an IT Multinational (IBM), where he has played various Sector Business Development and Sales roles covering BFSI, Industrial and Public Sector. All of his experience pertains to India across the cities of Mumbai, Gurugram/NCR and Bengaluru.
Soumya started his career at A F Ferguson (now Deloitte) as an Asst Consultant and then worked as AVP and VP-M&A/Investment Banking covering Automotive, Cement, Telecom and IT/Technology for the Investment Banks, General Manager-Corporate Finance & Strategy and AVP & Business Head (Sourcing SBU) for Sona Koyo Steering/Sona Group, VP-Corporate & Business Development for IBM India/South Asia and later Client Solutions Executive (Large & Complex Deals) for IBM GBS India with a specific focus on Blockchain Business Development.
Currently he runs a startup called Visilogix which is providing Supply Chain Planning & Optimisation tools for enterprise customers in FMCG, Retail and E-Commerce.

Worked on several marquee M&A Transactions including the largest hostile acquisition (India Cement – Raasi Cement), largest cross-border cement transaction (Lafarge – Tata Steel Cement), quite a few Joint Ventures / divestitures for Tata Motors (component businesses) and Aditya Birla Group (Cement business merger). Worked on several privatisation mandates (Indian Hotels, Maruti Golden Share Valuation), divestitures (Lenders – distressed Daewoo Motors) and the first successful state privatisation (Government of Punjab/PSIDC - Punjab Tractors).
At Sona Group, created the Capital Budgeting process guidelines and evaluated new capex proposals worth US$ 100 M as well as created a new business supplying auto-parts to European Tier 1 suppliers (customers of our SBU) and ran it for three years before handing it over to my successor.
At IBM, spent five years being part of and then leading the in-house M&A team and maintaining inorganic relationships with PE/VC funds (Corporate & Business Development). In the last five years as a Large Deals CSE, worked on several of the largest strategic outsourcing deals in India for BFSI, Industrial and Public Sector (Adani Group, Birla SunLife, Mannapuram, Petrofac, LVB, Syndicate Bank, NSDC, CBEC and SFIO) – mostly successful outcomes for IBM.
