Dr. Swapan Kanti Chaudhuri
Dr. Chaudhuri has over four decades of experience in teaching, research and consultancy. He was a visiting scholar at Kellogg Graduate School of Management (North Western University, USA), and Manchester Business School (UK). In India, he was a faculty member in the North Bengal University; Burdwan University; Management Development Institute, Gurgaon (Professor in Finance); International Management Institute, Delhi (Professor in Finance); and IMT Ghaziabad (Distinguished Professor in Finance). He was the Executive Director of IPE Global Ltd. (New Delhi) - a global consulting firm engaged in the development sectors, during December 2007 to January 2017, and the Chief Economic Advisor posted in Kenya (2018-19), prior to joining IFIM as a Senior Professor.
His expertise and research interest includes: (i) corporate financial management; (ii) security analysis and investment management; (iii) derivatives and risk management; (iv) infrastructure project appraisal and financing, including financial modelling of public-private-partnership (PPP) projects; (v) public financial management (PFM), including public expenditure review (PER); public expenditure tracking survey (PETS) and quantitative service delivery survey (QSDS); medium term expenditure framework (MTEF); fiduciary risk assessment; and value-for-money (VfM) analysis; (vi) municipal financing; and (vii) monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of social sector programmes/projects.
Over the years, Dr. Chaudhuri has conducted many management developments programmes for the executives of corporate sector, banks and financial institutions. The list of such organizations includes: NTPC, Power Grid, ONGC, IOC, GAIL, IFCI, HDFC, CMC (now merged with TCS), Airports Authority of India, National Handloom Development Corporation, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd., PNB Central Staff College, NIBSCOM, ICWA, ICAI, PHD Chamber of Commerce (Delhi), TERI, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Bharti Telecom, Hinduja Group, ITC hotels, J K Industries, Escorts, Alstom Power Projects, Bhiwani Textiles (unit of GRASIM), etc. He also designed and delivered a training programme on Integrated Bank Management for AGMs of the Department of Banking Supervision, Reserve Bank of India.
As Team Lead or Key Expert, Dr. Chaudhuri has worked in more than 70 consultancy assignments funded by national governments and donors (DFID, World Bank, EU, ADB, USAID, UNICEF, UNDP, UNWOMEN, Global Fund, etc.) in South Asia and Africa.
He has published many research papers and produced many consulting reports.
