Friday, Febraury 08 2019: AACSB accredited IFIM Business School Bangalore is offering super-specializations in partnership with top global B-schools and industry to prepare MBAs for new age areas in its MBA curriculum 2019. In a unique program delivery model, IFIM will offer super specialization in MarTech; Big Data Analytics and Blockchain; Financial Analysis and Technology; Digital Transformation and Robotic Process Automation
After researching the Industry 4.0 expectations from MBA graduates, recently released as IFIM-NHRDN study, AACSB accredited IFIM Business School Bangalore is going one step forward. It is adopting one of the core recommendations from the study – to prepare MBAs for new age areas – in its MBA curriculum 2019. In a unique program delivery model, IFIM will offer an array of super-specializations in partnership with top global B-schools and industry.
Dr Atish Chattopadhyay, Director, IFIM explains this further when he says, “According to IFIM-NHRDN study, successful future professionals will be ‘T’ shape professionals that combine both width in general management areas, and depth in specialized areas. In this ‘T’, the top bar represents the broad skills such as the people skills, the social skills, and an appreciation of multi-functional capabilities and how the functional areas play among themselves, whereas the pillar on which the top bar rests, represents deep knowledge and skills in a particular area of specialization.”
New-age super specializations in digital domains
As part of this initiative, IFIM will offer super-specializations in the new age areas where technology is disrupting the business world, informs Dr Chattopadhyay.
IFIM shall offer following super-specializations from the academic year 2019:
McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin
Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Business
How will super specialization be delivered?
IFIM has developed a unique industry-linked global delivery model for teaching these super-specializations to its MBA students.
Beginning in 2019, each student of the IFIM Business School will have an opportunity to pursue a 10 credit super-specialization. Program delivery format is unique – beginning with a Masterclass by a partner school faculty, to set the context and frame the problem/s along with the fundamental concepts through which the problem will be addressed; followed up by the Online Learning (supported by tutorials by the IFIM Business School faculty); and three weeks coursework and project at the partner school abroad.
There will be five stages in this program delivery:
- Masterclass by international faculty at IFIM
- Blended Learning with tutorial support
- Coursework + Project at an international partner school
- Professional Certification
Three Weeks at the Top Global B-schools
A unique feature of this super-specialization is that each student will be able to spend three weeks at the partner global B-school abroad. IFIM informs that it has finalized understanding with the following B-schools:
- Darden School of Business at University of Virginia
- McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin
- Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business
- ESCP London
A few more leading global B-schools are expected to join this initiative in the coming months.
Industry to partner in program delivery
The other interesting part of program design of this super-specialization is that, in addition to IFIM students, the participant cohort will also comprise of the working executives drawn from IFIM’s partner recruiting companies who will bring with them business related issues/problems being faced in the company, and at the end of the super-specialization, should be able to find a roadmap towards solving those issues/problems.
Explaining the rationale of having industry executives as part of the cohort, Dr Chattopadhyay said, “the idea of this super-specialization module is that while the students can deep dive into the knowledge, techniques and skills, the industry executives will provide the context and the broader understanding."
The response from international B-schools and corporates has been positive, informs IFIM. “It is a unique initiative so far not tested globally and I am happy to say that each of our partners is excited looking at the unique format and pedagogy integrating masterclass, online content, coursework and project abroad, and the whole idea of a mixed cohort!,” said Dr Chattopadhyay.
Application open for a few days
To enrol into these super specializations, students can enrol into IFIM’s 2-year MBA equivalent programs PGDM, PGDM (Finance), PGDM Marketing & PGDM (International Business).
IFIM is also offering merit-based scholarships to deserving candidates. IFIM has announced 100% Placements 2019 on January 11, 2019.
