IFIM’s unique Industry Internship Programme (IIP), has been very well received by recruiters across industries for its unmatched exposure and valuable on-the-job learning. IIP has been recognized as the most effective method of enhancing employability at the Indian Management Conclave. IIP is completely integrated into the curriculum of the programme, which spans about 4.5 months.

Curriculum for the Industrial Revolution 4.0
While the Industrial Revolution 1.0 used water and steam power to mechanize production, the 2.0 used electric power to create mass production, and the 3.0 used electronics and information technology to automate production; the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is building on the previous three revolutions, characterised by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. The sheer velocity, scope, and impact of this revolution has seen no precedent and is evolving at an exponential pace disrupting almost everything around us. It is imperative then that management systems of production, operations, and governance etc. will be significantly transformed, and so will the essential skill sets. The World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Institute for the Future (IFTF) has identified a set of distinct skills such as Complex Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Creativity, People Management, Coordinating with Others, Emotional Intelligence, Judgment and Decision Making, Service Orientation, Negotiation, and Cognitive flexibility for the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
Design Thinking and Innovation
For those who aspire to be innovators and entrepreneurs, IFIM Business School is contemplating offering Innovation Incubation as a choice in lieu of Research Incubation. Thus, a student will need to complete either Innovation Incubation or Research Incubation to successfully fulfil the academic obligation associated with the program.
The Innovation Incubation will be supported by the Start-up Foundry of IFIM Business School. The Start-up Foundry was established by IFIM Business School in 2016 for incubating start-ups. The foundry provides infrastructural support, legal services, marketing and branding services and mentoring by seasoned entrepreneurs. The Start-up Foundry has successfully incubated and graduated many ventures, few of them being “Hostel Backpack”, “Cliceat”, and “Rhythm on Wheels”.
As part of the Innovation Incubation, the student will need to complete a course on Design Thinking and Innovation. In the four semesters, the student will be expected to develop a business plan and either demonstrate the proof of concept or develop a minimum viable product. The plan and the outcome of the POC/MVP will then need to be presented to potential investors. If the plan solicits interest from an investor the student will be permitted to incubate the venture as part of the Industry Internship Program which follows the completion of the four semesters.
IoE (Internet of Education) Platform
IFIM Business School is developing a platform for upskilling the industry, the academia, and professionals in gen-next technology areas. The platform will comprise the latest in hardware, software and real-life datasets hosted on a cloud for easy access. We have identified four areas, namely: Artificial Intelligence; Data Engineering and Business Analytics; Digital Commerce and Blockchain aligned with new emerging job roles. The platform will host datasets from various verticals such as Healthcare, Financial Services, E-commerce, Retail etc which will allow users to develop algorithms and models for business solutions. This idea has found good traction with the industry and CXO’s from companies such as Fractal Analytics, Infosys, Wells Fargo, Fidelity, Walmart, Flipkart, Amazon, Intel have come forward to form a think tank in Bangalore to help us develop the platform. The think tank is also helping us develop courseware, domain-specific use cases and source real-life datasets for capstone projects. Providing professional development programmes on this platform is on our agenda.
Research Resource Centre (RRC)
IFIM Business School has also embarked on laying the foundation for a Research Resource Centre. This centre will be an open platform to help international faculty to tap into the growing Indian economy. The RRC will consist of a group of qualified PhD scholars to provide research support to top end international faculty who are time-starved but would like to apply their research findings to India and other Asian economies. The RRC will also be powered by the IoE platform giving easy access to real-life data sets making the research more effective and authentic.
