It was at the stroke of midnight of August 15, in 1947, that Indian finally won its freedom from the British Rule. The event was marked by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime minister, broadcasting his famous speech ‘Tryst with Destiny’ over All India Radio.
That magical night was enough to draw tears for years, from all those who were born and lived during that period. Even today, patriotic songs that are broadcast through the day still manage to bring out tears for some and invoke a deep sense of patriotism and pride in all Indians.
We all are aware that this year is the 70th year of independence in India. And as per the direction received from the Honourable Union Minister of HRD Shri. Prakash Javadekar, we are celebrating “AZAADI 70” in IFIM campus and as a part of that the institution is going to organize a series of activities.
Azaadi 70 has begun with a 10 mins of walkathon in the early hours of 10/08/2016 at 6.30am. 146 students from the PGDM 2015-17 batch participated in this joyous procession with the national flag in their hands. Students were chanting slogans like Vande Mataram, Jai Hind, Bharat Mata ki Jai in the procession.
For any country, its journey into the future is influenced by the journey of its past, and therefore it is important for the present generation to know and recognize the sacrifices that our forefathers made for the freedom that we take for granted for mostly now.
